Being productive can be hard when you are constantly on the move and you don’t have a particular direction for growth. Maybe you feel stagnant, or maybe you just want to mix things up and do something new for a while.
Either way, this is just a quick post to share a few of the things that I’ve been learning lately—things that you might find beneficial as well (that are also free!). If this list isn’t extensive enough for you, pop over here to see a similar list I created a while back.
Maybe you’ve picked up bits here and there over the years, but if you still don’t really know HTML and CSS, here’s a good way to pick up some basics. CodeAcademy courses are interactive and easy-to-follow, and spending a few minutes each day really doesn’t feel like a chore. This is the course I’m starting with, though I’m sure I’ll move on to another once I’m through with it. Maybe I don’t know how much it will come in handy in the future, but it’s an easy-enough time investment that I’m not too concerned.
If you haven’t learned a second language yet, Esperanto is a good way to start. This is a constructed language — one that was created to be easy to learn. Thus, spending just a few weeks can mean huge amounts of progress. They say that learning your second language (after your native language, of course) is the toughest. But, it gives you the building blocks to learn your next language faster. Spending some time on an easy-to-learn language, like Esperanto, just might get you farther with the languages you really do want to learn.
