If you’ve stopped by this blog over the course of the last month of so, you’ve probably noticed that it’s been a little stagnant. In this post, I’ll cover why that’s happened and a little bit about the plans I’m toying around with for the future.
First, a life update that will explain why I haven’t been posting.
In September of this year, I headed back to school for a one-year post diploma in a field that is completely unrelated to media but that builds on my previous degree (I studied biology for my undergrad and am now doing an advanced diploma in environmental engineering tech).
There was a time when I did consider freelancing full-time, but over the last year I realized that I want to be able to work in a field that I feel good about and focus my creative time solely on projects that matter to me — like maintaining this blog and perhaps eventually releasing my own ebooks or other related things. I realized that freelancing was becoming a burden on my time and willpower and just wasn’t fulfilling for me. Not that it’s not an amazing option for many people, but I just wasn’t dedicated enough to make any real progress with it.
On a side note, going back to school at 27 when you’ve spent your early-mid twenties travelling and moving constantly probably deserves its own series of posts. Maybe another time.
So, what does that mean for now?
Well, my time is a little occupied with schoolwork at the moment, but I definitely will not be abandoning this space. I do, however, believe that a slight change in direction will help me stay motivated to post regularly and get more creative. The other factor is that I’m not planning any major backpacking trips anytime soon, and I’m planning to move within Canada next summer when I finish my program. While I certainly still love travel and want that to be a part of this blog, I’m not sure that it still works for me as a main focus.
So, over the next couple of months this blog will be transitioning to a more minimalist/eco-lifestyle blog which will still have a travel section where I will still post about where I live (wherever that ends up being) and where I go. To reflect that, there will likely be a name change (I have something in mind but I’m still open to suggestions).
If you are reading this right now, thank you for sticking around til the end of the post. And I really do have plans to turn this into more of an active space filled with plenty of lifestyle/travel resources. With that said, please consider signing up below for newsletter updates if you haven’t already.
